The Omni Control System was designed to be different from the very start. We took a radically different approach to an old problem -- controlling a myriad different fixtures in a wide range of environments -- by offering a cost-effective and user-friendly control system. Developed to serve many different types of users, the Omni Control System offers one of the most flexible ways of creating and saving DMX controlled shows, from basic movements to complex scenes and chases.
Omni has the power to orchestrate a show with four separate timelines of events running simultaneously. Each of the twenty shows can have a total of 112 events used over the four-track timeline, made up of 240 static scenes or forty-eight chases of up to sixty-four steps each. Once you have established the scenes and chases, you create the show by placing them on the timelines. Any of these can be moved back and forth in time to an accuracy of 1/12th of a second. Steps can last anywhere from 1/12th of a second to 85 minutes, while chases can be set to last as long as 48 hours.
Lighting designers can use any of the built in templates for some of the most popular fixtures from various manufacturers, saving the time it would take to program the specifics of each unit again and again. Fixtures using more than ten DMX channels can be separated into different objects -- such as color mixing, mirrors, effects, etc. -- and grouped together with similar 'section' objects from multiple fixtures, allowing them to all move at the same time in perfect unison.
The Omni-Pad was added to give the Omni user "Live -- On the Fly" control of up to fifty-six Omni events via MIDI. Following in the Omni tradition, completely flexible programming allows any event -- a scene, a chase, or an entire show -- to be assigned to any button. Event titles can be handwritten on the unique erasable Omni-Pad overlay, which complements the the Omni's RS232 port for uploading and downloading data via PC Link.
The Omni PC Link software was developed to allow for easy storage and retrieval of all data in the Omni, including all information relevant to objects, scenes, chases, and shows. The Omni user can backup work in case anything should happen to the Omni. More than that, it allows for flexible reuse of the Omni's memory for each new show. Information can be stored for later use or shared between clients and locations, save time, money, and the need to continuously reprogram the Omni.
The system to its fullest extent is one Omni, one PC
Link, and one Omni-Pad. Program the Omni, save the data for later use and store it on your
PC using Omni PC Link. Use a different Omni-Pad overlay for each major show and simply
change it for each respective program reloaded into the system.
The Omni stands as the heart of the Omni Control System, with the Omni-Pad and PC Link as tools for making the system more flexible and user-friendly. All at a price well under what would traditionally be expected.
If there is a need for lighting, there is a need for the Omni Control System. Because it controls everything, it can be used anywhere.

Multimedia Museums/Amusement Parks: The Omni can be programmed to repeat demonstrations occurring at specific intervals or times during the day. The show may be re-cued to commence again as soon as it concludes, or Omni can bring the house lights up, ready for the next audience. Once the show is programmed, it can be replayed many times daily without the need for a lighting operator.
Restaurant/Environmental Lighting: Setup the Omni to trigger an entire day's worth of lighting requirements. Indoor lights and water columns an be turned on at a certain time, outdoor lights and signs can be turned on while interior lights are dimmed, and security lights can be activated at still another time. The same lighting schedule can be shared between locations by using the Omni PC Link software.
Theatres: Use the Omni for theatrical performances occurring every night in the same order -- even if they don't always start at the same time due to the nature of live performances. If actors miss a cue or enter late, the lighting operator has the scene ready and cued, only having to press ENTER (or a button on the Omni-Pad) when the action takes place. When the last scene is run, have the Omni automatically bring up the house lights.
Nightclubs: With the Omni, the lighting designer has the ability to write and time chases completely in sync with the music. One or two minor miscued events can be moved forward or backward in time in increments of 1/12th of a second, allowing for correction of the mistakes without having to reprogram the entire five minutes. Use the Omni-Pad to alter any show on the fly, depending on the mood of the operator or the crowd. Store and reuse shows designed with a specific crowd in mind, such as Tuesday night's Country & Western or Thursday's College Alternative crowd.
Live Concerts: Run an entire live show from any MIDI source, allowing for any combination of 128 scenes and chases to be triggered. Totally integrated sound and light shows can be run from a hard disk recording or music sequencing system, without the need for a lighting operator. Musicians on stage can control scenes and chases, so a drummer can actually "play" the lights during a solo. Use the Omni-Pad to change the show on the fly depending on the mood of the band or the crowd. Program each show once and store the valuable work for later use with the Omni PC Link software for different sets, audiences, or venues.
Showroom Dealers: Use the omni to control all the showroom lights for displaying them to customers. Show customers all available fixtures using gobos, color changing, mirrors, or any combination of features, hide the Omni away and let untrained operators try out different fixtures for themselves via pre-labeled keys on the Omni-Pad. For dealerships with several showrooms, share programs between each location via the Omni PC Link software, guaranteeing a uniformly high level of lighting demonstrations. Or program a show once using any combination of manufacturers' fixtures and reuse it again and again for rental units or shows using those specific fixtures sold to the customer.
Corporate Product Launches: Choreograph an entire presentation to music or spoken word. A slide show with intelligent lights projecting logos, slogans, or corporate trademarks can be timed to perfection each time the soundtrack is started. Omni "plays" along with the sound without ever having to be touched. Share the presentation with branch offices using the Omni PC Link software.
